Description

The standards provided in the National Electrical Code effect every NECA contractor on a daily basis and every three years the NEC is updated to reflect the newest practices, bringing about hundreds of changes. Resources to navigate these changes and discussions on how to propose new changes will be provided to help you navigate the NEC.

    Michael Johnston

    Michael is NECA’s executive director of standards and safety. He is a member of the IBEW and has experience as an electrical journeyman wireman, foreman, and project superintendent, and is a certified master electrical inspector.  Mike is the Chairman of the National Electrical Code Technical Correlating Committee and serves on the NFPA NEC Smart Grid Task Force. He is also an active member of IAEI, NFPA, ASSE, the NFPA Electrical Section, Education Section, the UL Electrical Council, and National Safety Council. 

  • Joseph Sheehan

    Joe Sheehan

    Joe is a curriculum specialist with the electrical training ALLIANCE where he is responsible for updating sections on code calculations, blueprint reading, health care systems and more within the curriculum.  Joe has served as an electrician, estimator, and project manager and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and a licensed Master Electrician in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Prior to joining the ALLIANCE, Joe was on staff at the NFPA, he served as an editor for five editions of the National Electrical Code Handbook, as as an instructor of NFPA’s Electrical seminars and worked with or staffed many NFPA technical committees, including the NEC panels, industrial machinery, electrical safety, and electrical equipment maintenance.
